Description
Coverlight blockout blinds — complete light control, made in Melbourne
Coverlight delivers true 100% blockout using a sealed track-guided design that eliminates light gaps at the bottom and sides of the blind. Unlike standard roller blinds that leave visible light bleed around the edges, Coverlight’s precision side-track system with light-blocking foam and a floating frame design creates a complete seal against light, wind and insects, even on out-of-square reveals.
Designed and manufactured in Melbourne by Cover Up Products, every Coverlight blind is custom made to measure at our Carrum Downs facility. As the designer and manufacturer, we control every step of the process, from fabric cutting on our automated plotter tables through to final quality inspection before dispatch.
Designed and manufactured in Australia
Coverlight is not an imported product rebranded for the Australian market. We designed the system from the ground up at our Carrum Downs manufacturing facility, and every blind we sell is made right here in Melbourne.
Our manufacturing process includes:
- Precision fabric cutting using automated cutting tables and plotter technology for millimetre-accurate sizing and tight tolerances across every blind
- Custom side-track assembly with high-density light-blocking foam engineered for complete light exclusion, with no caulking or silicone required
- Powder-coated aluminium headbox and channels finished in-house for consistent quality and colour matching
- Final quality inspection on every blind, checked for fabric integrity, track alignment and secure packaging before it leaves our facility
This local manufacturing means faster turnaround times, direct quality control and the ability to produce custom configurations that imported products cannot match, including a single-blind blockout span up to 4 metres wide.
We hold certified Australian Made status and are members of the Window Shading Association of Australia.
True 100% blockout — how it works
Standard blockout blinds use opaque fabric but still allow light to enter around the edges where the blind meets the window frame. Coverlight solves this with a sealed track system built around three key elements:
- Precision side channels run the full length of the blind on both sides, guiding the fabric and sealing the edges
- Light-blocking foam with a floating frame lines the back of each side rail. When the rails are screwed in, the foam compresses against the wall and conforms to surface irregularities, creating a continuous light-tight seal along the full drop. The “floating frame” design absorbs out-of-square reveals, twisted architraves and uneven walls (a constant headache in older homes and renovations) so you get a gap-free fit even where the opening isn’t perfectly true. No caulking, no silicone, no mess
- Bottom bar seal ensures no light gap at the base of the blind
- Headbox enclosure conceals the rolled fabric and eliminates light leakage at the top
The result is a window covering that genuinely blocks 100% of external light. Not 95%, not “near blackout”, actual complete blackout.
Evolution blockout fabric, tested to international standards
Coverlight uses our proprietary Evolution fabric, a multi-layer foam-backed material engineered for total light exclusion, noise dampening and thermal insulation. Evolution is 100% PVC and lead-free, and independently tested and certified to:
- OEKO-TEX accreditation — no harmful substances used in the product
- Greenguard Gold certification — low chemical emissions and improved indoor air quality
- UltraFresh antimicrobial protection — continuous odour control and protection against mould, mildew and stain-causing bacteria
Available in over 50 colours from our Evolution range, Coverlight is safe and suitable for bedrooms, nurseries, healthcare settings, hotels and any space where indoor air quality matters.
Simple to install, no installer required
Coverlight is designed for straightforward installation, with no specialist trade required. Every blind ships ready to fit with all hardware and clear instructions included, so any competent installer can put one up without specialist tools or training. We do not install or supply installers, which means no third-party trade dependency holding up your project.
